He developed standards and curriculum locally, nationally, and internationally, established a flourishing PhD program in world history at the University of Hawai'i, directed numerous seminars for scholars and teachers across the globe, and fostered a world history program at Capital Normal University in Beijing. If on the other hand you want a well written, interesting and very informative history book with a global perspective, then this is the book for you. If you love history, this is the book for you! Goes over everything in DEEP detail!!! This is a COLLEGE book so it's definitely hard to read and understand but you will definitely enjoy it! I am a parent of high school student who's using this textbook for AP Global Studies. My son kept complaining about how dull this book is. "How can that be?" I wondered. The period of history they're studying now is fascinating and the kids should be really intrigued. I decided to take matters into my own hands. I read the book myself. Holy Toledo. The only way writing like this could come to exist is by committee. It's all so generalized that it's almost laughable. The sentences are deadly dull. I am astounded. Any self-respecting English teacher would give this kind of writing a failing grade. Not only does this book give students the idea that writing like this is OK, it is so watered down and lacking any interesting details that it will likely extinguish any spark of interest in world history that an intellectually curious kid might have.
